In the previous lesson , we known how to register a new web host with any web hosting provider , today’s lesson is an extension to this previous lesson , it is about how to change your domain name server to the new web host name server , so that you can connect between your domain name and web host .
As we mentioned in the previous lesson in Step number Three , we said that you have the availability to choose either registering a new domain with the current web host provider you register with , or to choose that you have an existing domain , that you bought it , or you are going to buy it later from any other domain provider like Godaddy .
If you choose the first option , to make the web host company registering for you both domain and web host , then you do not need to read this tutorial , as your new domain will be already Adjusted to the web host nameservers .
But if you choose the second option , that you will connect your new web host with an external domain , that you bought or going to buy it from another website , then you must apply this tutorial in order to connect your web host with your domain successfully .
Our lesson will be on Godaddy , you can also apply it on any domain provider company , just know the steps , and see the relative steps to be applied in the other domain provider companies .
If you already bought a domain name with godaddy , then continue reading the tutorial , if you are going to buy a new one , then you must read this tutorial first on how to register a new domain name with Godady .
After registering in any web host , within 24 hours after registration you will revieve an email contain all important information about your new web host account , so now get back to this email and open it , and search for the word “Nameservers” , and you will find your web host provider DNS or Nameservers , it will be like this : NS1.xxxx.com and NS2.xxxx.com , where xxxx change from web host to another .
If you Do not found anything related to the Nameservers in the email , then simply go and contact your web hosting provider , and ask them that you want to know their nameservers in order to be capable to adjust your domain and add the new nameservers to connect it with your new web host .
After Knowing what is your web hosting provider Nameserver , save it and then it’s time now to change your domain nameservers .
First go to Godaddy.com
log in to your account by putting your Username or Customer Id and your password , you will find them in the email that sent to you after registering your domain .
Then in the right menu , click on Domain Manager .
Now click on the domain you want to change it’s nameservers .
Now you will find “Nameservers” Title , and under it “Manage” hyperlink , click on it .
Now a new small window will appear , first check “I host my domains with another provider”
and then paste your web hosting provider that you get them from the email .
After that click OK to save what you did , if Godaddy tell you that there is a problem in adjusting your domain , then you are probably writing the nameservers wrongly , just check them again with your web hosting provider and come back again and paste them .
Notice that this changes will be noticed from two hours to 48 hours from the adjusting , so you couldn’t access your website through your domain until it finish it’s period of adjustment .
After 48 hours as a maximum , you will be able to open your domain through your internet browser , If you do not upload anything to your web host yet , you will find just a white empty page with a written word “Index of” .
If you upload anything to your web host such as a website with html files and images , scripts , or any other thing , you will be able to access them through your domain .
Anyway do not be Hasty , next lesson we will explain how to use your control panel of your website “cpanel” , after that I will explain how to upload scripts and how to setup it .
